Tears of sambalpur...yes this article is to be named so.Because a part of sambalpur was drowned in a conspiracy- The Budianchals(Lands which got drowned in water).And every man who has lost his place has some revenge in his mind for someone they couldn't fight and are in deep longing need of a leader.
The maps given herewith are some pre-independence maps of sambalpur district-my birthplace.The tragedy with this place was that the lifeline of my town 'Mahanadi' caused severe floods at lowlands of cuttack.At pre-independence times cuttack was center of political and economic exchanges.Pre-independent era saw an independent province at sambalpur which was mired into controversies as the king was killed by British and the king had no male child.Let me remind sambalpur and mahanadi is famous in Chinese ancient scripts for Diamond trade.Hence a place named 'Hirakhanda'.
As India became independent..sambalpur was wrongly mutilated and came into rule of ORISSA government,and finally paid a huge price for this.As the times of technical revolutionist Pt.Jawahar lal Nehru came a dam was proposed to be built at sambalpur mainly to stop floods at cuttack.A dam at cost of drowning more than 100 villages constituting richly harvested paddy lands.These villages are now called 'The Anterdols'.Some peasant leaders of the villages fought against the decision .Later due to extreme pressure and remunerations from government both voices ceased.And finally the gauntias of 100 villages were shifted to 1 acre havelies of Jharsuguda in trucks and wagons.An injustice after independence for politics at other part of the same state.The peasants of those 100 villages were given some proportional remunerations as land.But the pain of leaving ones rich land saddens every denounced.This denouncement whenever gets a leader calls itself as 'kosal'.Kosal a dream and probable destination where the poor peasants can get true compensation of sacrificing their 'MOTHER' in terms of socio-economic development.
Opening of many(i say many like mushroom growth,you get 25 or less than 45 kms) sponge iron factories,Aluminum and steel industries have made peoples of this region to get spellbound.Increasing rents of the rent-houses and elevation of prices has made local peasants very happy.They feel as, government has compensated somehow.But the game is played differently.Emission from 25 factories has gifted sambalpur-jharsuguda with highest of 45 degree Celsius temperature in this summer.Great gift.No environmental act was followed to check emissions.No act to prevent blackening leaves,i have seen.No act to prevent dust settling on your hand in a minute.And every environmentalist was quietened somehow.Any way thanks to government for such an endeavor.Great victorious Naveen !!!.
Its not a sadist attitude but we want balanced development.A simple question arises Companies open their smoking factories at jharsuguda and hospitals,universities from the same group are at puri beach.What a joke government plays,peoples would suffer dreadful diseases at jharsuguda and would go to Bhubaneshwar for its treatment.Great plan.And we have regular trains for that!!
And concluding with hope (that Indians have become used to),to stir up some sensible minds to have a well coordinated mission of improving my place of which i would be always be a part of.I don't want to initiate a fight or a riot but a endeavor for a balanced development.which every Indian holds a right, to belong to.
