GOOD i too felt the same and i attended my college fuction(ashame most of students were on their bed.).Its really geat to feel so for our country and our country has still got some peoples to feel so!!Coming to my room i browsed through my dictionary to get the actual meaning of "REPUBLIC"-"State in which supreme power is held by the people or their elected representatives or by an elected or nominated president,not by monarch".And out of my deepest sadness what has that power to public has lead to is:
alarmed! yes i too got shocked.This is a new atlas published by a UK company and i could not see any forehead of india about which i used to sing patriotic songs.
When i communicated this to my brother in AIR-FORCE.he commented "This is because peoples like you love lucrative jobs in a MNC and not in INDIAN ARMY".
